Summary of the Case:
In the night of the 8th of May, the Alarm Phone was alerted by a worried relative to a group of around 25 people, including children, 1 pregnant woman and 2 elderly people who had arrived on the island of Symi in Greece. We informed authorities, Frontex and NGOs about that group.
Then both at 06h16 CEST 08 MAY and at 15h01 CEST 08 MAY we sent two more emails to inform Greek authorities, Frontex and NGOs of the situation and location of the group, and that the people needed medical attention and wanted to claim asylum in Greece. At 18h00 CEST 8 May, the Symi police department confirmed that they found the group and have brought them at the police station.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
