Summary of the Case:

In the morning of the 23rd of January, the Alarm Phone was called by a group of 17 people, including 5 children, 6 men and 6 women, who had arrived on the island of Lesvos in Greece. They told us that some of them were injured and in need of urgent medical assistance.
At 09:06 CET we sent an email to inform Greek authorities, Frontex and NGOs on the island of the group’s situation and location, informing them that the people needed medical attention and wanted to claim asylum in Greece. Two hours later the group informed us that they were with the police now and later confirmed their arrival to the camp.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
