Summary of the Case:

On the 20th of January, just after midnight, Alarm Phone was contacted by a concerned relative, who alerted us to a boat of 13 people in distress at sea between Greece and Turkey. At the time of the alert, the relative told us that water was entering the boat and that the people needed urgent help. We established direct contact to the boat but couldn’t understand each other because of bad phone connection. We alerted the authorities at 00:48 CET. Three hours later, the Turkish coast guard confirmed that they had found the 13 people, and that everybody had been brought back to Turkey.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
