Summary of the case: On Friday the 22nd of September 2024, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of around 90 travellers in distress in the Central Mediterranean Sea. The relative told us that the boat was taking in water. We got their GPS position from the relative and immediately alerted the relevant search and rescue authorities, relaying all the information we had. We never managed to reach the travellers or get information from the authorities. According to the relative, the boat shipwrecked and only a few people survived. Close to 90 people remain missing.

Border police patrols
