Summary of the case: On Monday the 9th of September 2024, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted to a group of 120 travellers in distress in the Central Mediterranean Sea. The travellers had left from Sabratha, Libya, the previous morning on a grey wooden boat. We managed to get their GPS position and immediately alerted the relevant search and rescue authorities, relaying all the information we had. We stayed in contact with the travellers who reported that they were drifting and that the boat was taking in water. We relayed updates from the boat to the authorities as often as possible. Later, we learned that the travellers had been intercepted by the Tunisian coastguard.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
