Summary of the case: On Monday the 26th of August 2024, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted to a group of 44 travellers, including one pregnant woman and four children, in distress in the Central Mediterranean Sea. They were travelling on a white rubber boat and told us that their boat was deflating. We managed to get their GPS position and immediately alerted the relevant search and rescue authorities, relaying all the information we had. As time passed, the situation onboard deteriorated. Later, we learned that the travellers had been rescued by the NGO vessel Nadir.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
