Watch The Med Alarm Phone Investigations – 1st of October 2019

Case name: 2019_11_08-AEG615
Situation: group lost in Croatia, brought to Zagreb
Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded
Place of Incident: Croatia

Summary of the Case:
On 8 November at 11:30h CET we got a call from a pregnant woman who was walking with her family (3 adults and 2 children) in Croatia near the Bosnian border. She had bloody wounds on her feet and was unable to continue walking. We adviced to call the emergency number but she was afraid to call as the police could come again to push them back. Around noon we alerted the ambulance, police and in paralell the ombudsman and a NGO in Croatia to make visible to the authorities that the rights of the family should be respected. In the night the contact to the people could be reestablished and they confirmed to be safe and in a refugee camp in Zagreb.
